The Spruiker has propelled I’m All The Talk to record-breaking honours in the WA second-season premiership for 2020-21.
The pocket-rocket is unbeaten in three starts this prep earning over $264,000 for a syndicate comprising trainer Steve Wolfe, Graeme Evans, Lin Ryan, John Vujcich, Kevin Patten and John Gillam.
The Spruiker (pictured) completed a hat-trick in the Furphy Hcp (1400m) at Belmont on Saturday and the moment wasn’t lost on Wolfe. “I bred him and knew he had ability from the start. He’s exciting and that was a sensational win. He’s really gone on with it and we will be back here in fortnight for another Westspeed race. With the bonus, they’re worth $88,000.”
With a month of 2020-21 remaining, I’m All The Talk has already broken the WA record for second-season sires with earnings of $2,386,485.
The Darling View Thoroughbreds stallion is putting a gap on the previous mark posted by Oratorio ($2,000,527) in 2009-10.
He sired The Spruiker from Wolfe’s mare Pins Perhaps (NZ). The Great Southern trainer also prepares I’m All The Talk’s top-class filly Watch Me Dance who is winding up for a 4yo season that could involve an interstate trip depending on COVID-19.
“We will see how things develop before making any firm plans,” Wolfe reasoned. “I was going to send her over to join Red Can Man in Melbourne but that didn’t happen with all the travel restrictions. She had a break instead and is back in work down at Albany.”
Watch Me Dance won last year’s G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes, G3 Champion Fillies and G2 WA Guineas with stable jockey Shaun McGruddy aboard and Wolfe praised his ride on The Spruiker. “Anyone who says ‘Shooter’ can’t ride has got no idea.”
McGruddy defused a wide draw to have The Spruiker poised behind the speed before letting down for a gutsy win over Bright Diamond (I Am Invincible) and Playing Marika (Playing God). “He’s small but has a decent enough stride,” McGruddy said. “And he has a great attitude which will take him a long way.”
Darling View stands I’m All The Talk (Stratum) for $6,600 this year with Playing God ($16,500), Patronize ($4,400) and Lucky Street ($3,300). All fees (inc GST).
